발표내용(abstract) : The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety conducts an herbal sensory test for medicinal herbs prior to their supply to the market, and the labor-intensive herbal sensory test needs to be improved. Here, we propose an artificial herbal inspector powered by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and deep learning. The molecule-level vibrational analysis of SERS provides herbal characteristic information and sufficient herbal datasets, while artificial intelligence (AI) provides superb classification accuracy. By combining these two techniques in a synergetic way, we can identify and classify > 30 medicinal herbs― including herbs with similar appearance and genus, and even the same-genetic-species herbals― with over 98% prediction accuracy. We believe the SERS-AI system would efficiently and innovatively assist in herbal sensory tests.
